How to Get Cursed Egg in Grow a Chicken Fighter

The Cursed Egg is the only normal egg that can hatch the 404 Chick, so the whole route is about getting a chicken that lays it on repeat. Here is who lays it, what is inside, and the shortest chain from a fresh save.

Quick answer: how to get a Cursed Egg

  • Hatch Scratch Eggs until you pull an NPC Chick (12% of the Scratch pool). About 80% of the eggs it lays are Cursed Eggs.
  • Open that first Cursed Egg. The two most common results, NPC Chick (20%) and Stone Face (19%), both lay Cursed Eggs, and Stone Face lays them 100% of the time.
  • Once you hold a Stone Face, you have a self-feeding loop: every Cursed Egg you open has roughly a 1-in-5 chance of being another 100% layer.

There is no Cursed Egg in the code list and no shop price we could verify, so laying chickens are the only route. See the codes page for the eggs that codes do give.

Who lays it

ChickenCursed Egg lay rateNotes
NPC Chick80%Remaining 20% are Scratch Eggs. Comes from Scratch Egg (12%) or Cursed Egg (20%)
Stone Face100%Footage shows one egg about every 2 minutes; one player reports the rebirth buff cuts that to about 1 minute
404 Chick100%The Secret itself lays Cursed Eggs, so a 404 keeps the loop going
Stonks Hen100%Listed by two indexes
Bonk Hen, Karaoke Rooster, Sigma Rooster, This is Fine, Deep-Fried Hen, Imposter Chick100%Reported by one roster; every Cursed-only chicken appears to lay Cursed back

Stone Face is the grind chicken. Put it in the coop (or the Incubator once you unlock it) and keep collecting.

That under-1% line is the reason anyone farms this egg. One recorded run opened a batch of Cursed Eggs and pulled several Secrets in a row, which says more about volume than luck: the more 100% layers you run, the more rolls you get.

What to hatch it for

404 Chick is the target. It is a Secret, it has the fastest base speed in the game according to multiple players, and it is one half of the 404 + Cycle of Ash combo that top lists call S tier. Secrets and Cosmics are also the only chickens that reach the 31 stat cap. Full breakdown on the 404 Chick page.

Everything else in the pool is filler or a better layer. Imposter Chick (Mythic) and Deep-Fried Hen (Legendary) are decent sell or fusion fodder, and the fact that Cursed-only chickens lay Cursed back means none of your hatches are wasted.

If you would rather gamble, the Blazing Egg lists 404 Chick at 8%, but Blazing Eggs only come from winning the Hot Egg event.

Fastest farm route

  1. Start: Classic Rooster lays Nest Eggs. Hatch for Cosmo Brat (10%).
  2. Cosmo Brat lays Scratch Eggs 100% of the time (one index times it at about 2 min 40 s per egg). The SERGIOVERSE code also hands you one Scratch Egg.
  3. Hatch Scratch Eggs for NPC Chick (12%).
  4. NPC Chick lays Cursed Eggs 80% of the time. Open them.
  5. Hatch a Stone Face (19%) and keep it laying. Open every Cursed Egg until the 404 Chick shows up.
  6. When you get a 404, it lays Cursed 100%, and you can fuse it with a Radiant Fenghuang from the Royal Egg line to lock Cycle of Ash (see the fusion guide).

Rebirth speeds the whole thing up because the rebirth buff shortens lay timers, so do not delay your first rebirth to farm.

Common questions

Is the Cursed Egg rare or epic? Fan sites disagree; the game rates chickens, not eggs. Treat it as a mid-game egg you reach a few minutes after your first Scratch Egg.

Can I skip NPC Chick? Not really. NPC Chick is the only bridge from the Scratch line into the Cursed line. Once you own any Cursed-only chicken you no longer need it.

Does the 404 Chick lay anything besides Cursed Eggs? Two indexes list 100% Cursed, so a 404 is also your best long-term Cursed layer.
